How do I make sure I order the right beard or wig for ME?
We want to make sure every one of our Santas has the perfect wig and beard. That’s why we offer four Tiers of sets that help you select the right size and scale for your beard. Whether you want a beard that’s short and manicured or a very long, full beard, one of our Tiers will be perfect for you.
But it’s not just about size and scale! We also have a Santa Style Guide that will help you decide how you’d like your wig, beard and mustache styled.
Don’t see what you’re looking for in our Style Guide or in our client galleries? No problem, just email us photos of the Santa ‘look’ you want. Whether it’s from film or real life, we can use that looks as the guide to creating and styling yours.
And your choice doesn’t have to be permanent! If you try out one style and don’t like it, we can easily change the style any time. Many of our Santas evolve their look over time or changes things up. Human hair wigs and beards are infinitely restyleable, it’s one of their biggest charms.
How much does a custom Santa set cost?
Santa sets (wig + beard + mustache) start at $1650. Custom Santa wigs are $1300-$1400 and Custom beards are $700-$1200.
We offer an Early Santa Discount of 10% for orders placed between October 1 and December 31 while early spaces remain.
That seems like a lot of money, and there are less expensive options available – why should I order my Santa pieces from Custom Wig Company?
This is a great question! We understand that our custom items are an investment – here’s why they’re worth it:
When you order a custom wig or beard from us, you’re getting over a decade of company experience creating professional quality, realistic hairgoods. We work with you at every step to make sure the look, fit and style of your pieces is exactly what you want.
Every piece is handmade from scratch just for you by our team of highly skilled artisans working in our Louisville, KY studio. You can visit us in person to pick up your finished set and learn how to wear it and care for it. If you need anything changed or adjusted once you have your set, we take care of that as part of your order.
But there’s more. Once you order from us, you’re a CWC Santa for life. That means we’re always here to answer questions or help you get the most out of your pieces, whether you’ve had them a few months or a decade.
Our full-time Santa Care coordinator oversees Santa Care (our cleaning and maintenance service) so our Santas can send their pieces in for cleaning, maintenance, restyling and repairs to keep them in perfect condition. That includes keeping meticulous records about your Santa items to help ensure continuity for you from year to year or working with you if you want to change up your style.
What if I get my wig, beard or mustache and I don’t like it or it doesn’t fit right?
Our goal is to make sure you love everything about your pieces from the get go. But if something isn’t right, we’ll keep working until it is.
During the ordering process, we email you photos so you can see how your pieces have turned out – at that time you can request any changes or adjustments if you don’t love what you see.
But what about once you have it? We encourage you to try your pieces on as soon as possible. If there are any issues with the fit, we’ll have you send the pieces back so we can make adjustments to address the issue. This doesn’t happen often but when it does, we want to take care of it promptly for you. And if you’re just not loving the style, we can change that, too.
You can also arrange to pick up your finished pieces in person at our studio in Louisville, KY so you can try them on and be sure everything is absolutely perfect. You can also arrange a fitting appointment later if you have questions or concerns.
We also offer video consultations and fittings via zoom, skype or facetime if you’re not able to travel to Louisville.
But the most important thing you can do if you get your order and you’re not completely thrilled is to let us know so we can help.
Does Custom Wig Company offer payment plans?
Yes! We realize that a custom piece is an investment in your work or hobby, so we offer a range of flexible payment plans. We also offer an Early Santa Discount of 10% every year from October 1- December 31 while early spaces remain.
What forms of payment does Custom Wig Company accept?
You can pay for your project with a credit or debit card via Square. You may also use your paypal account or a bank account transfer. We accept payment through Chase Zelle and we will also accept a personal or business check with prior approval. Please note that there is a $50 fee for any returned check or credit/debit card reversal.
I need my Santa set by November 1 – when should I order?
The honest answer to this question is – right away. Orders for custom Santa items fill up every single year, usually by the early summer. If you wait until later summer or the fall to start thinking about a Santa set, it will be too late.
While we generally set up a Wait List and can fit a few more orders in, there’s no guarantee we’ll be able to accommodate a late order. Orders always open on October 1 for the following Christmas – and you’ll receive our Early Santa Discount if you order between October 1 and December 31 while early spots remain.
Our Santa and Mrs. Claus clients outside of the US should order by late spring if at all possible.
How long will my Santa wig, beard or mustache last?
We know a custom Santa piece is an investment in your work, and we know you need it to last for years. With good care and handling, you can expect to use one of our custom wigs or beards for many years, even with heavy wear. As of 2021, our oldest Santa items are still in regular use and were created in 2008!
Mustaches and eyebrows have a slightly shorter lifespan due to their small size and more delicate foundation. For that reason, we offer replacement/additional mustaches and eyebrows at a discounted rate as part of our Santa Care cleaning and maintenance service. Still, with good care and cleaning, your mustaches can last for many years, too.
If the day comes when your wig or beard isn’t looking as fresh, we can simply put a brand new lace edge onto the wig or beard. This is called ‘re-lacing’ and it can extend the pieces life by many more years.

I only need a beard, can I order one without a wig? Or vice-versa?
Absolutely. While the Santas you see in our galleries are primarily wearing wig and beard sets, we often create just a beard or wig for our Santas. Some of our Snatas use one wig but have multiple beards and some only order a wig to match their own whiskers!
I’m a real-bearded Santa but I need a wig. Can you make me one?
Yes! Creating a wig that complements Santa’s own whiskers is one of our specialties – and vice versa. We ensure the color, density and overall appearance of your wig complements your whiskers so they look like they belong together.
I want to order a Santa wig but I don’t have a full head of hair myself. Can you make a wig that’s thinner on top or that has a receded hairline?
Yes we can! Your wig can have almost any hairline you’d like, assuming you have a bald or shaved head. We can make your wig slightly recessed, or thinner through the top or even a full ‘horseshoe’ hairline that’s bare across the center.
In previous seasons, I have used my own hair or beard, but this year I need to transition to a traditional or designer set – how can I make the transition and maintain my signature “look”?
We work with many Santas who have used their own hair or facial hair, some of whom continue to do so even after they order a custom set. We can create a wig or beard to match your own hair or whiskers in order to maintain your “look”. And we’ll be here to answer any questions you have as you make the transition to a glue-on piece!
Do your Santa beards have a strap?
If your beard is part of a full set or will be worn with a wig, it will have a strap. If you order just a beard, we won’t add a strap unless you request one.
If you don’t want a strap, you can mention that in your order notes.
Is the mustache separate from the beard?
Yes. The beard and mustache are completely separate. This allows maximum facial mobility. It also makes it easy to have multiple mustaches or replace a mustache that’s worn out.
What kind of hair do you use for Santa wigs and beards?
We use primarily human hair for its suppleness and versatility, as well as its long lifespan. We also use yak hair by request. We do not work with synthetic hair for Santa pieces as it doesn’t hold up well over the long haul.
Will I be able to take my hat off while wearing your wig?
Yes! Thanks to our wigs having carefully hand-knotted lace front hairlines, your wig will look like your own head of hair. No need to hide the edge with a hat!
You can also feel confident wearing or removing your hat as you go about your business, since your wig will look like your own hair. We do suggest a few trial runs with both wig and hat to make sure you feel comfortable placing the hat on over the wig and that your wig is firmly secured.
One caution – make sure the lining or interior of your hat is color fast. Color from the inside of hats can and does stain the wig hair.
Will my hat fit over your wig? If not, how much bigger will my head size be when I’m wearing the wig?
In general, you can assume our wigs will add 1/2″-1″ to your overall head circumference. The density of the wig, as well as the style, will impact how much the wig changes your head measurement. Additionally, your own hair worn under the wig may add additional girth to your head size.
