Wearing and Caring for Santa Wigs and Beards – Two Day Workshop
What is it: An intensive in-person class designed to educate Santa clients on every step of the Designer Santa wig and/or beard experience.
The course covers application, daily upkeep, restyling and annual maintenance. This workshop will be structured with ample opportunity for questions.
Class concludes with a full ‘troubleshooting’ session in which class members can ask questions or get hands on help with any part of their designer hair experience.
Whether you have questions about getting your mustache to stay put or how to re-curl your wig or the best way to care for your pieces day to day, you’ll get all the answers.
Who is it for: This class is exclusively for our Santa clients who already have a Custom Wig Co wig, beard or wig/beard set or who will have one by the dates of their class.
The content is perfect for those with less experience wearing and caring for their designer hair goods. If you’re new to wearing and caring for glue-on Santa pieces, you’ll get a lot out of this class!
But the ‘One on One Troubleshooting’ session, along with ample opportunity for asking questions and engaging with the group means this class has great value for experienced Designer Santas who want to expand their knowledge and increase their confidence and comfort level.
The Course Schedule and Content
Day 1, Session 1 – Using your pieces and caring for them day to day during the holidays
This session will cover:
- Unboxing and trying on new pieces, lace trimming techniques, methods of adhesion and application for wigs, beards, mustaches and eyebrows.
- Cleaning pieces after use – removing adhesive/tape, removing makeup from lace and hair, sanitation and other considerations
- Daily maintenance – the things you need to do after each use to keep your items in good shape.
- Storing pieces between uses and transporting pieces between events or locations
- Troubleshooting common issues relating to all of the above
- Plenty of time for questions
Day 1, Session 2 – Beyond the Basics – How to clean and style your pieces
- Restyling wigs, beards and mustache – this section will cover techniques to restore or recreate a style without a full shampoo and reset. Then we’ll move onto how to properly put in and remove rollers, and how to comb out pieces once the rollers come out.
- Heavy maintenance of wigs, beard and mustaches – this portion will cover proper shampoo and conditioning techniques for wigs and beards and how to handle stains, soiling and adhesive buildup.
- Styling tips, products and more – learn how to achieve lasting styles without damaging your items.
- Styling mustaches – we’ll cover a range of common mustache styles so you can see how to achieve popular looks
For this session, Heather and Beth will be using stock pieces to demonstrate the above techniques, class participants will be able to observe but will not be doing the techniques in class due to time constraints. There will be plenty of time for questions.
Day 2 – Troubleshooting and One-on-One Feedback
This is your chance to ask questions or get one-on-one real time help with things like application, cleaning, fine tuning the appearance of your hair goods and more. You’ll have the chance for plenty of personal feedback as well as the opportunity to learn by observing the questions and concerns raised by other attendees.
During this session, each participant can put on their pieces to get assistance or feedback on their application techniques.
What you should bring:
- At least one CWC wig or beard and mustache. We won’t be able to provide ‘practice’ pieces at the studio.
- You are welcome to bring a canvas wig head or chin block, if you have one. You can also purchase a block and we’ll have it waiting for you.
- If you’d like, you can bring your wig and beard styling tools- things like combs, your clamp, etc. You can also purchase one of our Santa Beard and Wig Kits in advance and we’ll have it waiting for you.
- Feel free to bring beverages or non-messy snacks. Lunch is included on Day 1.
What does it cost?
Tuition for this two day in-person class is $250 per person and includes a catered boxed lunch on day one.
What’s included:
Your tuition covers all three class sessions, lunch on day one, use of studio tools and supplies during the class sessions as needed and a one-on-one thirty minute follow up Zoom session if you have questions in the future.
What’s not included:
Any costs associated with travelling to Louisville, including but not limited to: airfare, accommodations, meals or other expenses related to attending the class.
Where is the class?
2025 classes will be held at a new, off-site location!
We learned a lot from our first two classes in 2024 and have decided to use a larger venue that is more accessible and closer to more hotels and restaurants. The venue is located in the Plainview Village Shopping Center, 9930 Linn Station Road, Louisville, KY 40223.
There is ample free, convenient parking at the shopping center.
One month before your class is scheduled, you’ll receive an email with details about the class, including more information about the location, class schedule and other important information.
Other important points:
- In order to ensure Beth and Heather have plenty of time and attention for each participant, enrollment is limited to 8 students per class. Guests are not permitted due to space constraints.
- Live Streaming or recording any part of the class will not be permitted but note taking is encouraged!
- Participants must register in advance. No ‘on-site’ registrations are permitted.
Payment in full is due at the time of registration.
Cancellations and Refund policy
If you register for a class and cannot attend, you have two options.
You can choose to move your enrollment to a future class, assuming there is space available. You may only reschedule once and no refund will be issued if you are not able to attend the rescheduled class.
If you do not wish to change to a different class, you may request a refund. Refunds, less a $50 convenience fee, will only be issued if your scheduled class is more than 30 days away. No refunds will be given for cancellations or non-attendance less than 30 days before the scheduled class.
In the event we have to cancel a class, you’ll have the option to move your registration to a future class or to receive a full refund.
Do I need to take this class in order to wear a Custom Wig Co Santa beard or wig?
This class is absolutely not a requirement for having a long and happy life with your CWC wig or beard! It’s just another resource to help our clients get the most out of the Santa items.
Santas who have never worn designer hairgoods or those with an interest in learning more about wearing, cleaning and restyling their pieces will find the class especially valuable. However, we have lots of complimentary resources, including videos and tutorials, to make sure all of our Santas have everything they need to fully enjoy and care for their pieces. And we’re always happy to talk with you if you have questions or concerns about your pieces!
